A Message from the Chairman I am delighted to welcome you to the Tokyo International Anime Fair 2005. Japanese anime enjoy huge popularity and critical acclaim throughout the world. The annual Tokyo International Anime Fair supports and promotes the anime industry, which for many people overseas is the face of Japan. This will be the fourth time the Fair has been held, and it promises to be a spectacular event which anime lovers of all ages are sure to enjoy. The previous Tokyo International Anime Fair featured a trade fair which attracted the participation of 166 companies, including 31 from abroad; we are hoping for even greater participation in this year’s trade fair. There will also be an anime competition, giving animators from Japan and overseas the chance to vie with each other in displaying the fruit of their imagination. Talented young creators will be given the support to help them make the jump from amateur to professional, or even to try for the big time, at the “Creator's World.” At the “Anime Rookies” area, support will be given to teams of outstanding animators looking for business chances. For anyone connected to the anime industry, and indeed for anyone at all with an interest in anime, the Tokyo International Anime Fair 2005 will be a tremendous occasion. I hope that as many people as possible will attend the Fair to see the new talent and the latest works, and to experience first-hand the wonderful world of Japan’s anime.
