What is the Tokyo Anime Competition?

The Tokyo Anime Awards are a competition sponsored by the Tokyo International Anime Fair. Held for the 11th time this time, the competition has two broad entry categories: “Nomination Entries”, for works chosen from amongst outstanding animated works that have been broadcast, screened, or sold during the previous 12 months; and “Open Entries”, for a broad range of animation work from throughout the world solicited from the general public with the aim of discovering fresh talent and human resources.

Outstanding anime works selected by the judges will receive various prizes, including the one-million-yen Grand Prize, Outstanding Work Award and Business Award. The Awards Ceremony will be take place during the Tokyo International Anime Fair to be held March 22(Thu)-25(Sun), 2012.

Which work will receive the glorious Grand Prize? Look forward to the Tokyo Anime Awards as they grow bigger and more exciting each year.

Nomination Entries (Commercial Works)

The commercial animation work that broadcasts, was screened, and sold in the period from November 1, 2010 to October 31, 2011 domestically is automatically entered, and it becomes a selection object. The work that broadcasts, was screened, and sold after the above-mentioned period becomes the selection object of next year.

Open Entries (How to apply?)

Please enter by the on a Tokyo International Anime Fair official website from October 11(Tue) 2011 to November 30(Wed) 2011, and then send the work.

What is the Award of Merit?

Today, Animation Industry enjoys its prosperity thanks to efforts by predecessors who contributed to raise its social status. Tokyo International Anime Fair Executive Committee established “the Award of Merit” in 2005 to throw light on virtue of those who set up the foundation of animation industry and its cultural and historical constitution as well as contributed in various aspects of animation including production, technology, expressions, cultivation of human resources, education, and cultural and international exchanges.
